We brought you already 5 blogs with the most important features of Google Analytics that might help you to push your ecommerce forward. If you did not have chance to read them yet, you may find links by the end of this blog to quickly access them.

To get the most out of Google Analytics, apart from using already introduced features, you should also pay attention to the settings of your account and dashboards. Then it is less probable to obtain useless data, such as activities of your IP address on your website.

Therefore, we have a little BONUS for you with the six most important settings of your admin account and dashboards! It is the last step towards the best statistics. Which settings are we talking about?

Settings in Google Analytics

1. Property Settings

Before adjusting the dashboards, it is necessary to review the data about your business. You can find them in Admin settings in Google Analytics.

Focus on whether you have:

  •        correct URL address;
  •        enabled enhanced link attribution;
  •        enabled analysis of the users;
  •        correct settings of Search Console.

2. View Settings

In your Admin settings choose View Settings. Here you can manage:

  •        website´s URL and default landing page;
  •        time zone for your day boundaries, regardless of where the data originates;
  •        currency;
  •        search parameters;
  •        ecommerce tracking;
  •        and so forth.

3. Filters

Filters are here to obtain data you need the most. Thanks to predefined filters you may either exclude or include particular IP addresses, or you can configurate your own filters. You may set them in View Settings.

It is recommended to exclude your own IP address, so you do not have to think about why the user using this IP address does not purchase anything.

4. Goals

Goals help you to measure how often your visitors complete given actions. Completed actions are also called conversions, and they tell you how particular visitor benefited your business.

There are plenty of actions to track! For e-shop owners the most important are perhaps completed purchases, but it can be a completed form as well.

You can manage them in Admin → Create View → Goals → New Goal.

5. Dashboards

With customized dashboards and widgets, you will obtain even better insight into your account. You will get to statistics that can influence the direction of your business. You can customize the dashboards and track the data you are interested in.

Dashboards contain widgets which provide you with information about various dimensions and metrics, such as timeline, geo map, pie or bar chart and so forth. Some of these can measure the data in real time. These mini applications can be customized as well.

6. Alerts

If you want an overview of important changes on your website (such as increase in organic visits) you can set alerts to get notifications. The parameters can vary. It is all up to you, what you consider important and when you want to get a notification.

Thanks to these settings you can get the most of Google Analytics. But remember the work thoroughly with all the features introduced in previous articles as well. In case you did not have time to come across these, you can do it with one click now:
